Our Past Through Art: Carrying Memory Forward | April 2026
As part of Kwibuka 32, the commemoration of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, BK Foundation partnered with Our Past Initiative for the 15th edition of “Our Past” at the Nyanza Genocide Memorial.
Held under the theme “Our Past Through Art,” the event brought together thousands of young people through theatre, poetry, music, and storytelling, creating space for remembrance, reflection, and dialogue. Through creative expression, participants explored the importance of preserving memory, confronting genocide denial, and carrying the lessons of the past forward to guide future generations.
By supporting initiatives such as Our Past, BK Foundation continues to empower young people as custodians of Rwanda’s history, ensuring remembrance inspires unity, responsibility, and hope for future generations.

2025 Annual Impact Report Released | May 2026
BK Foundation published its 2025 Annual Impact Report, capturing progress across our core pillars.
The report brings together results and stories from our work in early childhood development, scholarships, financial inclusion, disability inclusion, entrepreneurship, and environmental conservation. It reflects the collective effort behind our work and the people and communities reached through our programs and partnerships.
Celebrating Young Writers and Future Investors | May 2026
BK Foundation, in partnership with Kigali Public Library, celebrated the winners of the Season 5 Writing Competition.
We support young talent because writing gives young people an opportunity to develop their voice, strengthen their thinking, and contribute to the stories shaping their generation.
Alongside recognizing their achievements, all 36 winners received RWF 50,000 each to open BK savings accounts. In addition, 18 finalists completing secondary school received RWF 100,000 each through BK Capital as they prepare for their next step, encouraging saving and long-term financial planning from an early age.

Supporting Entrepreneurs Beyond Financing | June 2026
Access to capital is one part of building a sustainable business. Entrepreneurs also need coaching, mentorship, market connections, and practical business support.
BK Foundation, in partnership with GIZ Rwanda, continued its business coaching and mentorship program for Urumuri 2025 entrepreneurs. The sessions provided a platform for entrepreneurs to exchange experiences, discuss business growth, address common challenges, and strengthen market linkages.
Through continued coaching and mentorship, the program supports entrepreneurs to strengthen their operations, grow sustainable businesses, create jobs, and contribute to Rwanda’s circular economy.

Representing Rwanda at the East Africa Philanthropy Conference | June 2026
BK Foundation participated in the 10th East Africa Philanthropy Conference in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, held under the theme “Anchoring Systems in an Era of Transition.”
The conference brought together philanthropic actors from across the region to exchange knowledge, strengthen partnerships, and identify new areas for collaboration.
The engagement also provided BK Foundation with an opportunity to share Rwanda’s experience and strengthen connections with regional and international partners.

A Shared Investment in Children’s Earliest Years | June 2026
The earliest years of a child’s life lay the foundation for lifelong learning, health, and wellbeing.
BK Foundation and Catholic Relief Services Rwanda signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen the Early Childhood Development ecosystem, with collaboration extending to youth employment, entrepreneurship, financial inclusion, education, and digital learning.
The partnership brings together the strengths of both organizations to expand opportunities for children and families and strengthen the systems supporting their development.

Welcoming the Next Generation of Rwandan Biotechnology Scientists | June 2026
BK Foundation officially welcomed the third cohort of the MSc in Biotechnology Program at the University of Rwanda as part of its broader partnership with the Ministry of Health.
Biotechnology brings together biology, chemistry, and engineering to address challenges in healthcare, agriculture, industry, and environmental sustainability. The program equips scientists with advanced knowledge and practical research skills to develop solutions that contribute to Rwanda’s development.
During the induction, BK Foundation Executive Secretary Ingrid Karangwayire joined representatives from the University of Rwanda and the Ministry of Health to welcome the new cohort as they begin their journey toward contributing to Rwanda’s science, innovation, and technology-driven development.
