Through this approach, BK Foundation focuses on expanding access to opportunities, strengthening livelihoods, and supporting systems that contribute to long-term development.

Education Pillar
BKreative: Expanding Access for the Creative Sector
BK Foundation partnered with Bank of Kigali and the Ministry of Youth and Arts to launch BKreative, a platform supporting Rwanda’s creative industry and its contribution to job creation and economic growth.
BKreative provides access to financing ranging from RWF 50 million to RWF 1 billion for production, equipment, and working capital, supporting creatives and creative businesses tostrengthen and grow their operations.
The initiative also supports skills development and market access through digital market place and learning platforms, helping creatives build sustainable businesses and expand their reach.
Empowerment Pillar
Integrated Agribusiness Program: Strengthening Smallholder Systems
BK Foundation partnered with Bank of Kigali to advance the Integrated Agribusiness Program,strengthening smallholder farmers through training, financing, and market access.
The program targets 13,490 farmers, with 17 trainers delivering support in smart agriculture,financial literacy, and market linkages, starting with the rice and coffee value chains.
By addressing financing gaps, the program provides farmers with access to practical financing alongside training and market opportunities. The initiative aims to improve productivity, support activity across up to 15,000 hectares in targeted areas, and contribute to stronger incomes,food security, and resilience
BLOOM Africa Project: Expanding Opportunities for Youth
BK Foundation partnered with World Vision Rwanda to launch BLOOM Africa, a five-year project focused on helping young people build practical skills, access economic opportunities,and strengthen their livelihoods.
The project supports 8,000 youth, with a strong focus on girls and young women, and is expected to reach more than 39,000 people across 13 districts. It prioritizes vulnerable groups,including youth from low-income families, teenage mothers, and people with disabilities.
BLOOM Africa strengthens practical skills, improves access to finance, and connects young people to employment and entrepreneurship opportunities, supporting their transition into more stable livelihoods.
Environmental Conservation & Sustainability
Tree Planting and Community Ownership
BK Foundation partnered with SEI and Bank of Kigali in a community tree planting initiative as part of Bank of Kigali’s 60-year celebration, supporting environmental conservation and community participation.
In Kimihurura Sector, Gasabo District, approximately 3,500 trees were planted, contributing to a broader target of 50,000 trees with an 85 percent survival rate.
Implemented with SEI and Rwanda Forestry Authority, the initiative combines tree planting, monitoring, and community engagement. It also provides training and support to VSLAs and school environmental clubs to strengthen community ownership and long-term sustainability.
